"And this is my chance.."
Turn me on to phantoms
I follow to the edge of the earth
And fall off
Everybody leaves
If they get the chance
And this is my chance

Radiohead - King of Limbs

I still have In Rainbows nightmares.
Sort yourself out with a copy here. Digital release Sat 19th February. Followed by the hard copy to be sent out from Mon 9th May.
Watch the ridiculous race to review and tell everyone about your thoughts on the album as soon as is aurally possibly on the internet. But not here. I kid myself that I have a life.

Radiohead

Pretending I don't hate everything
For those of you who don't know, I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on Radiohead and the release of the album In Rainbows. While some might believe that makes me a seasoned expert, it doesn't. It makes me bitter. Full of regret. Wishing I'd have thought better. I hated myself long before the end of the project. And hated Radiohead fans. And most of all, I hated Radiohead. In the delirium of it all I bought a t-shirt and mug to wear and use almost constantly during my all-nighters to get the burden complete. Once the monstrous beast had been defeated there was some reprieve. And then I had to go see them live again! Bastards! I'd bought the tickets an eternity before the project began and then about 3 weeks after my needlessly in-depth encounter I was due to see them live in Manchester.
The above picture was my posing in between mumbling expletives about Thom Yorke.
I did enjoy it. There is no doubt. However, it was unfortunately timed during my much needed Radiohead detox.
The news that their new album is nearly finished and will be released later this year has dragged up some odd feelings. Thanks 6 Music!
Readers, please don't let me study it this time!

Closure..
University has been a testing time for myself. Something I would not like to repeat in a hurry. That is not to say I am not totally in love with studying and the social sciences. But I think I can safely declare I always hated being a student.
I've experienced some of the darkest times of my life so far whilst doing this course and to make it to the end is something I am finding very hard to reconcile. So lets have a song that stood out.
Obviously.

That sinking feeling..

I drink too much coffee. I don't exercise enough. I'm never nice to anyone. I don't do enough reading for my course, no matter how much I do. And I have neglected Pop Cultureddd. I apologise.
So yesterday I did the 'spend Sunday working as a retail slave in Teesside and then carry heavy bags of books back down to York' thing. And the journey always taking three times as long, as Sunday apparently means that the world goes into shutdown, I managed to fill my swirly brain with the glorious sounds of Alfie, Radiohead and Belle & Sebastian. All of which made me very happy indeed.
I woke up feeling obliged to share this.

The new Radiohead album..
Argh!
The countdown begins.
10th October.
Download through their website. You choose the price you pay.
Optional boxset thing that looks divine. That is more expensive. So that might be a begged Christmas present.

What is a fair price to pay for the download only? I'm poor but I'd feel like I was cheating a deity if I didn't expend a decent amount. Suggestions? What will you pay? We can all come to some sort of consensus on this it help the collective conscience.
Dead Air Space.
