Mr Oizo, as I live and breathe..

Wall of noise required.

Always Oizo...

Bury your head in the sand and dance!

All of the dancing. All of the time.

The stupor..

Throbbing, juddering, dubby aches all around.

Paused in the amibient middle; trance like soft-focus.

In Praise of.. Maxime Dangles (Pt 1)

If I was asked what I currently could not live without, I would have to say:
  1. Camomile tea
  2. Columbo
  3. Maxime Dangles
And as Pop Cultureddd has never been a 'lifestyle' blog I will not bother with extolling the tea, and it is also probably not the appropriate time nor place to evangelise about a 1970's TV detective with whom I am deeply fixated.

So I will stick to Maxime Dangles. I first heard this French producer a few months back on 6 Music whilst pottering around my house. Hearing this stopped me in my tracks. I very quickly sought out more information, more music and was spending my pennies to bring the RĂ©silience LP into my world as soon as possible.

You've not heard the last of this blogs love-in with this artist.

Admitting defeat..

Pause. Halt. Stop.

Restart. Reboot. Recalibrate.

Sounds like the old...

Gold Panda

This awoke me from my most recent bout of misanthropy. If there can be this number of people, in one room, all enjoying and dancing to Gold Panda, then maybe there is hope (at least for me) yet. I can almost forgive that it is in London. Almost.

Dancing to Marriage is all I want to do right now.

Sticks it on repeat. Dances. Hopes someone comes to find her, to check if she alive in a couple of weeks.

Autumnal Impulses

The end. Beauty, life, love. You signal the end.

Dread envelopes the looking back at the past and the venturing forward into the new.

The dark impulse to run. Into the unknown, into the new, into the fire, into the sea.

Kylie Minogue: Flawlessly forever marking the passage of time..

One of my all time favourite electro-pop singles was released on this day 12 years ago.

Thank you, Kylie, for Slow.

Twelve. Years. Old.

It can still render my skin totally electric.

Toddla T & Drums of Death

I think I might have broken my car. And if I have I would like to be reimbursed by Toddla T.

The Fabric Mix he did back in 2009 has broken my car and made me do some pretty wild dancing this week.

This track by Drums of Death when it drops is almost impossible to not turn the volume up.

No one has ever witnessed this. This is alone driving!

Carey Lander RIP

Over the years I posted several blogs related to Camera Obscura. Oddly enough, this post was directly linked to both the band and grief:

Nearly 8 years on I could have never have thought was the post would be so resonant (regardless of my grieving misanthropy). I posted that song in my time of loss, and it seems now the perfect tribute to share this particular track again.

The loss of Carey Lander will be felt by all fans of the band.

John Grant

Disappointing, this song is not. Or the performance. What a range! Deep velvet lows and beautiful rocketing highs.

As it is a Thursday morning I will post the live performance from Jools (Holland himself does not feature - you are welcome), as the official video is too much. Especially for me. If you can cope, be my guest and go here... Officially Steamy Video

A slight return..

It has been two years since I last posted. It was never about the immediacy. So you'll forgive me, I'm sure.

A great deal has changed and maybe I am seeking solace in the old familiarity of Pop Cultureddd.

So why not trot out an new-old cliche?

Soulwax have remixed Huarache Lights by Hot Chip. Of course they have. Why wouldn't they? Just like it is still 2007-8. Every track needs additional obligatory handclaps. So remix away, Boys!

The result is taking an already soaring, wobbly-where-needed track and make it, well, more soaring and wobbly. With a bit of added funk.
