David Bowie

Let's have a bit of a jiggle on a Sunday to try and get back to a version of myself that I've seen much of recently.

This is probably my favourite Bowie.

Lovely.

Igor Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring

The fact that it has made the news that it is the centenary of the first public playing of Stravinsky's divisive piece The Rite of Spring it heartening.

Back when I was younger and studied music this piece absolutely blew my mind. I was enthralled and even listening to it again today it moved me to tears.

The fact that this time 100 years ago upon its received with such disdain and outrage that it provoked the audience into a riotous frenzy is near mythical.

I adore it. More people should.

Read more in this piece by the Guardian, I simply wanted to express my genuine love for this piece.

Vitalic

Oh, I'm keeping it retro. Like that hipster that I am (on occasion).

This track is keeping me motivated and sane.

Thanks Vitalic. You bloody star, you!

The Chapman Family

Where I live is seen to be regionally excluded, culturally bereft and economically ruined and hopeless.

And whilst some are resigned there are some who see it all very differently. There is no denying the area is marginalised but not all is lost. It is probably why I have stayed here and study, research and work to produce knowledge in the area I do.

The Chapman Family are the emotion, anxiety, anger, resistance, persistence and hope embodied and response made musical. Oh, and our Kingers is prolific on the social media outlets - @chapmanfamily

Download the new single for free here through their Facebook page.

And a great video. Essentially a 4 minute gaze at one of the most attractive jawlines in rock music today.
